Source International Responds to Global Tariff Increases with Transparent, Temporary Surcharge

Global trade shifts are creating new challenges across industries, and the commercial furniture sector is no exception. In response to recently updated U.S. trade policies and a wave of newly imposed tariffs, Source International is taking transparent action to protect its standards of quality and service while minimizing impact on customers.

As global supply chain disruptions persist, new U.S. tariffs are affecting a wide range of materials and components sourced from countries central to the commercial furniture industry. These changes are not isolated—they affect nearly every manufacturer in the space, regardless of supply origin.

With its sourcing network spanning multiple countries now subject to these new tariffs, Source International has announced a measured response: a 4% NET tariff surcharge will be applied to all new orders beginning June 1, 2025.

“Rather than compromising on the quality, reliability, or service our customers depend on, we’re introducing this temporary surcharge to help navigate the changes without sacrificing what makes Source, Source,” said Eric Mueller, CEO and Owner, Source International. “This is not a profit strategy—it’s a pragmatic response to a global shift.”

Key Details:

  • This 4% tariff is exclusive to U.S. customers only.
  • Contract orders are excluded from the surcharge, except for the specific contracts noted below, until further notice.
    • OMNIA Contract has approved our 4% Tariff.
    • North Carolina Contract has approved a 3% Tariff.
  • The surcharge will not apply to freight, custom match fees, or premium powder coat match upcharges.
  • Source intends to remove the surcharge as soon as conditions permit.
