In a recent collaboration, Kuchar Owner and Creative Director Sarah Kuchar joined forces with Chicago painter and muralist Emmy Star Brown to share their insights on the top color trends for 2025—and, more importantly, which hues are here to stay. The conversation highlights not only the evolving palette of interior design, but also the emotional impact of color in shaping meaningful, memorable spaces.

At Source, we were particularly inspired by the exploration of rich, grounded tones like Mocha Mousse and the bold resurgence of Oxblood. These hues reflect a sense of warmth, sophistication, and permanence—qualities that deeply align with our approach to materiality and product design.

Mocha Mousse speaks to a desire for softness and familiarity in the built environment, while Oxblood offers a confident contrast—timeless, unexpected, and full of character. Both shades balance function with feeling, helping create spaces that are not only designed beautifully, but also lived in with comfort and intention.

We were so moved by this thoughtful approach to color because of our own connection to both collaborators—Sarah Kuchar designed our Chicago showroom experience in 2023, and Emmy Star Brown created a proprietary work of art for the space that same year. Emmy’s piece beautifully captured the visual language of our showroom at that moment in time—organic forms, intentional movement, and vibrant expression—all while remaining true to her distinct artistic voice. The result was a mural that reflected the curated energy of our brand and reinforced our belief in the power of design, color, and art to create meaningful, connected experiences.
