Claus Breinholt

Claus Breinholt is a Danish designer renowned for his innovative approach to furniture design, seamlessly blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Born in a small town in rural Western Denmark, he grew up surrounded by classic Danish designs from icons like Hans J. Wegner and Arne Jacobsen, thanks to his father’s profession as a furniture dealer.

Initially studying graphic design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Design, Breinholt soon discovered his passion for furniture design. His innovative approach earned him a scholarship during his studies . In 2003, he established his own studio in Copenhagen, focusing on industrial and furniture design for both contract and home sectors.

Breinholt is fascinated by the intersection of challenging materials and production methods. His work for Source International includes the Jump collection—an energetic and sculptural seating series offered in multiple configurations, including four-leg, swivel, and stool models. With its sleek profile, compound curves, and subtle movement, Jump exemplifies Breinholt’s ability to fuse technical precision with visual lightness.

His designs have been exhibited internationally, including at the Scandinavian Furniture Fair in Copenhagen, the Satellite Show in Milan, the International Furniture Fair in Stockholm, and Interzum in Cologne . Breinholt has received numerous awards, such as the FORBO Design Competition and the Danish Woodworking and Furniture Industries Competition.
